What does Senior Resources of West Michigan do?

We help older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers understand their options and connect to services that support independence at home and in the community for long-term care.

What counties do you serve?

We serve Muskegon, Oceana, and Ottawa counties.

How do I get started with services?

The first step is a phone call with one of our Options Counselors at (231) 733-3585 or 1 (800) 442-0054. We’ll listen, ask a few questions, and help you understand what services or programs may be available.

Can I just add my name to a waitlist?

We start with a conversation to understand your needs and determine what programs you may qualify for. From there, we’ll guide you through next steps, including any waitlists.

Do your programs have waitlists?

Many programs do have waitlists. If that’s the case, we’ll explain what to expect and help you explore other options in the meantime.

Does Senior Resources help with bill pay such as rent and utilities?

We do not provide direct financial assistance for rent or utilities. We can connect you to local resources, such as 2-1-1 and Community Action Agencies, that may be able to help

Can you help with home safety, like a medical alert button or bathroom modifications?

Senior Resources does not directly help with direct medical equipment, home modifications or just a medical alert button but can connect you to the appropriate resources.

Do you help with housing or homelessness?

We do not directly help with housing or homelessness. We can help connect you with 211 or TrueNorth resources.

Can you still help if I don’t qualify for Medicaid?

Yes. We can help people at many different income levels and connect you to a range of community resources.

I’m not sure what I need—can I still call?

Absolutely. You don’t need to have everything figured out. We’re here to help you sort through your options and take the next step.

Options Counselors will also provide information on other programs such as Veterans Administration Services (VA), LifeCircles PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) and other programs that will help an older adult live safely and independently at home as well as housing options from assisted living to nursing facilities in our service area.
