MUSKEGON, MI — For more than 36 years, Pam Curtis has dedicated her career to helping older adults and caregivers remain independent, connected and supported in their communities. Through her leadership at Senior Resources of West Michigan and her advocacy on behalf of older adults at the state and national levels, Curtis has helped expand access to services and shape policies that strengthen aging services across the country.

That commitment was recently recognized on the national stage when Curtis, Chief Executive Officer of Senior Resources of West Michigan, received the USAging Excellence in Leadership Award during the organization’s annual conference in San Diego.

As CEO of Senior Resources of West Michigan, the Area Agency on Aging serving Muskegon, Oceana and Ottawa counties, Curtis has led the organization’s growth while championing innovative programs, advocacy initiatives and community partnerships that help older adults and people with disabilities live independently and with dignity.

Her influence extends well beyond West Michigan. Curtis recently completed a two-year term as President of the USAging Board of Directors and has served on numerous national committees and leadership initiatives focused on strengthening services and supports for older adults and caregivers. Through these leadership roles, she has helped elevate aging issues and advance policies that benefit older adults nationwide.

“This award reflects what many of us see every day—Pam’s unwavering commitment to older adults, caregivers, staff and the communities we serve,” said Nicole Epplett, Human Resource Director at Senior Resources of West Michigan. “Through her leadership, Senior Resources has expanded services, strengthened partnerships, advanced advocacy efforts and remained focused on helping older adults age with dignity, independence and choice.”
While accepting the award, Curtis emphasized that effective leadership is rooted in collaboration and shared purpose.

“I know that no leader succeeds alone. I have always believed that leadership is a team sport,” said Curtis. “The accomplishments being recognized today are not mine alone—they belong to the leadership team and staff at Senior Resources, my Michigan colleagues and partners, mentors, board members, community champions and all of the people who have walked beside me. I accept this award with gratitude and humility because every success has been the result of people working together with shared purpose, trust and heart.”

The award was presented during the USAging Annual Conference in San Diego, where leaders from across the country gathered to celebrate innovation, advocacy and excellence in services for older adults. The USAging Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes Area Agency on Aging and Title VI Native American Aging Program directors who demonstrate exceptional leadership in advancing the mission of the Older Americans Act at the local, state and national levels. According to USAging, recipients are selected for their vision, dedication and impact in strengthening programs and services that help older adults remain healthy, independent and connected to their communities.
