Senior Resources of West Michigan is proud to recognize the outstanding leadership of our CEO, Pam Curtis, who recently completed her two-year term as President of the Board of USAging, the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
Pam has dedicated more than three decades to advancing services for older adults, holding a variety of roles at Senior Resources over the past 35 years. Her deep institutional knowledge and unwavering commitment have given her a front-row seat to the evolution of aging services, celebrating successes, navigating challenges, and continuously innovating to meet the needs of our community.
Her term concluded at USAging’s 50th anniversary conference in Chicago, a milestone that underscored the enduring importance of advocacy and innovation in aging services. Guided by USAging’s 2024–2026 Strategic Plan, Pam’s presidency saw progress in advocacy, capacity enhancement, visibility, and organizational excellence. Her tenure was marked by the launch of new programs, strengthened partnerships, and increased public awareness of the Aging Network’s mission.
During her board tenure and presidency, Pam played a pivotal role on the USAging Board of Directors, including leading the Corporate Relations Committee for several years, helping to strengthen partnerships and expand the organization’s impact. Her leadership has been marked by a clear focus on mission, collaboration, and forward-thinking strategy.
At Senior Resources, Pam continues to lead with vision. Under her guidance, the agency has developed programs and services beyond traditional area agency on aging services that include the expansion of the MI Choice Medicaid waiver program, in-home primary care and counseling, and a new partnership with two other Michigan AAAs to develop work on health care contracting and creation of a hub for person-centered options counseling.
In her final address, Pam reflected on the power of collective advocacy using a metaphor from Horton Hears a Who! — reminding us that “a person’s a person, no matter how small,” and that every voice in the Aging Network matters. She expressed heartfelt thanks to USAging members for “stepping up, stepping in and stepping alongside when asked,” and acknowledged the tireless work of the board, her Michigan colleagues, and the Senior Resources team for their support throughout her presidency.
We thank Pam for her exceptional service to USAging and her continued dedication to improving the lives of older adults in West Michigan and beyond.
